Is Your Diet Causing Your Infertility? The Fertility Shopping List

the breast doc

What is the hormone in The Pill  that makes you infertile? Correct - ESTROGEN.  Most women are shocked to learn they are consuming popular estrogen food products and don’t even realize it. To all you future mommies out there! This is your shopping list of the hidden estrogens that may be keeping you from rockin’ the cradle.

Hey troops! Quick quiz - If you don’t want to get pregnant, what do you do? Take The Pill. Why? High levels of estrogen. Estrogen causes infertility. Now take this knowledge and translate it into your diet. Most of you immediately think, “Oh, hormones in chicken and beef.” Correct. Estrogen is the hormone they use to fatten non-organic livestock. However, many of you may be using popular food products and trendy supplements thinking they are healthy, but they are actually causing infertility.

The most surprising sources are plant estrogens, which many believe are weak or insignificant. However, weak or not they’re still a hormone, and plant estrogens have the same effect as any other: they’re in your foods and are causing infertility. Our 50 plus years of breast thermography research is providing the incredible evidence proving plant hormones can influence our systems just like synthetics. Bio-identical means “same chemical structure;” it does not mean “natural” as they want you to believe. The Pill and flax are both bio-identicals. Don’t be fooled into thinking they are “natural.” Plants are powerful.

The majority of women are progesterone deficient, NOT estrogen deficient as we are brainwashed to believe. This lie has increased breast cancer 210% from 1971-2011 due to the fact that 80 percent of breast cancers are fueled by estrogen. Progesterone deficiency not only increases our risk of breast cancer, but infertility too. Read this blog:The Breast Deception ~ Estrogen Deficiency is Rare ~ Progesterone Deficiency is Rampant.

My medical clinic has accidentally become a fertility clinical too, so we are speaking from experience and some happy accidents as well. I have to keep reminding all of my patients to be very careful when they start Breast Cancer Boot Camp or the Estrogen Free Diet as we are decreasing breast cancer risk - we are increasing fertility! On that note…

All righty future mommies, here is your infertility cheat sheet for shopping.

Let's go shopping...

Shopping for groceries:

Popular estrogenic foods that are dramatically reducing your chances*

  • Flax – oil, seeds, crackers, chips, cereal and milk (flax is 20 times stronger than soy).
  • Soy – tofu, edamame, fermented soy, cereal, milk, cheese and meats
  • Eggs labeled Omega 3 (flax) and fed soy
  • Garbanzo beans or chick peas
  • Hummus
  • Sesame - oil, crackers or bread
  • Multigrain bread, crackers and cereal
  • Doughnuts
  • Veggie burgers
  • Non-organic meats, cheese and milk

Read the blog: The Flax Fairytale ~ F* Flax and the Horse it Rode In On

These foods contain smaller amounts of plant estrogens than the ones listed above. I suggest limiting how much you eat, and to not eat them daily.

    • Dried apricots
    • Almonds
    • Cashews
    • Garlic
    • Alfalfa

    Shopping for supplements:

Popular women’s health supplements can also be making you infertile. Hint: If it’s labeled “women’s health,” or “breast health” drop it and run. It usually contains a form of estrogen.

    • Bio-identical estrogen
    • Black cohosh
    • Red clover
    • Evening primrose
    • Rhubarb root
    • Myomin
    • Soy
    • Estrovera
    • The Pill
    • Hormone Replacement Therapy
    • IUD with hormones
    • Vaginal creams with hormones

Essential oils are the hottest craze and multi level companies are expanding their popularity offering moms a small business while keepin’ it al natural. Love this natural approach to home remedies, however, remember plants are powerful and mastering these mixtures takes years of study. In the last couple years I’ve had an influx of women applying these “breast” or “phyto” formulas directly to their breasts causing fibroids, breast pain, swollen breasts and irregular periods. Ladies, what have we learned? Never apply anything to your breasts until it has been proven safe, which we do through our non-profit’s research at The Pink Bow. That is a no no! Don’t consume or apply these plant estrogens in your essential oil collection if you are trying to conceive. A small dose of just one of these for the everyday lady once a week may be fine, but keep in mind the majority of women are progesterone deficient.

    • Lavender
    • Evening primrose
    • Tea tree oil
    • Cinnamon
    • Fennel
    • Peppermint
    • Basil
    • Clary sage
    • Coriander
    • Cypress
    • Aniseed
    • Chamomile
    • Geranium
    • Rosemary
    • Sage

Shopping for bed, bath, body and beyond:

And then there are the little extras no one ever thinks about:

    • BPA Free – contains more harmful product – BSA
    • Hand sanitizers or wipes, including baby wipes
    • Anything labeled anti-bacterial
    • Canned foods
    • Plastic bottles, cups, plastic wrap, cookware
    • Teflon cookware
    • Baby formula
    • Styrofoam

Also be on the lookout for these toxic non-organic or “natural” products:

    • Skincare
    • Cosmetics
    • Hair care
    • Bath and body products
    • Fabric softener
    • Laundry soap
    • Perfume
    • Air fresheners

    Estrogenic water

Yup, even water. Unless you have a well you must have a special filter that is *1/10,000 of a micron to remove medical waste. Hells yeah, you are drinking everyone’s pharmaceuticals! Yuuuuck.

    • Tap
    • Bottled
    • Reverse osmosis
    • Over the counter filters, Britta

The hardest is soy since it is in most processed foods including organic and vitamins/supplements. Read your ingredients. Can't stress this enough, you have to become your own detective.

Don’t use the above hormones on your infants or children either as they may cause hormonal and/or developmental disorders. A baby’s blood brain barrier isn’t developed until the age of two and a baby’s skin is thinner than adults.

There you go future mommies, the secret estrogens that may be keeping you from rockin’ the cradle.
