Hey troops! Want to know the most popular side effect of the estrogen-free® diet? Weight loss! When my patients begin this diet they become absolutely giddy when they lose 5-15 pounds just by eliminating estrogenic foods and products.

Did you know the hormone they use to fatten livestock is estrogen? If you’ve ever gone on The Pill you know the sacrifice for a convenient contraceptive is weight gain – because of the estrogen. Most Americans are consuming estrogen and don’t even realize it. The most surprising sources are plant estrogens, which many believe are weak or insignificant. However, weak or not they’re still a hormone and plant estrogens have the same effect as any other: they’re in your foods and are increasing weight gain. Don’t be fooled thinking they are “natural.”

Popular estrogenic foods that are making you fat.

  • Garbanzo beans or chick peas
  • Hummus
  • Sesame - oil, crackers or bread
  • Multigrain bread, crackers and cereal
  • Doughnuts
  • Veggie burgers
  • Eggs labeled Omega 3 (flax) and fed soy
  • Flax – oil, seeds, crackers, chips, cereal and milk
  • Soy – tofu, edamame, fermented soy, cereal, milk, cheese and meats
  • Non-organic meats, cheese and milk

Popular women’s health supplements can also be making you pleasantly plump. Hint: If it’s labeled “women’s health,” “breast health,” or that it “relieves symptoms of menopause,” drop it and run. It usually contains a form of estrogen. Estrogen deficiency is very rare ladies, you’ve been lied to. Excess estrogen actually accelerates aging. Read book or blog for more info.

  • Bio-identical estrogen
  • Black cohosh
  • Red clover
  • Evening primrose
  • Lavender
  • Rhubarb root
  • Myomin
  • Soy
  • Estrovera
  • The Pill
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy
  • IUD with hormones
  • Vaginal creams with hormones

These foods contain smaller amounts of plant estrogens than the ones listed above. I suggest limiting how much you eat, and to not eat them daily.

  • Dried apricots
  • Almonds
  • Cashews
  • Garlic
  • Alfalfa

And then there are the little extras no one ever thinks about. They contain endocrine disruptors or eco-estrogens:

  • BPA Free – contains more harmful product – BSA
  • Hand sanitizers or wipes, including baby wipes
  • Anything labeled anti-bacterial
  • Canned foods
  • Plastic bottles, cups, plastic wrap, cookware
  • Teflon cookware
  • Baby formula
  • Styrofoam

Also be on the lookout for these toxic non-organic or “natural” products:

  • Skincare
  • Cosmetics
  • Hair care
  • Nail products
  • Bath and body products
  • Fabric softener
  • Laundry soap
  • Perfume
  • Air fresheners

Estrogenic water

Yup, even water. Unless you have a well you must have a special filter that is *1/10,000 of a micron to remove medical waste. Hells yeah, you are drinking everyone’s pharmaceuticals! Yuuuuck.

  • Bottled
  • Reverse osmosis
  • Over the counter filters, Britta

The hardest is soy since it is in most processed foods including organic and vitamins/supplements. Read your ingredients. Can't stress this enough, you have to become your own detective.
